The Boston Celtics are leading the Dallas Mavericks two games to none in the 2024 NBA Finals. On Sunday night at Toronto Dominion Garden, the Celtics star was point guard Jrue Holiday of Chatsworth, California, who had a significant impact offensively and defensively in a 105-98 victory.
Holiday led the Celtics with 26 points. He also had a double-double as he added 11 rebounds. three assists, one steal and one blocked shot. However what stood out in Holiday’s statistical line was his amazing game two accuracy. He attempted 14 shots of which he made 11. That is a remarkable field goal percentage of 78.6%.
Holiday is looking to win his second NBA Finals in a green uniform. He previously won with the Milwaukee Bucks in 2021.
In game two, Holiday was one of five Celtics players to reach double digits in scoring. The other four were shooting guard Jaylen Brown of Marietta, Georgia (21 points), point guard Derrick White of Parker, Colorado (18 points), small forward Jayson Tatum of St. Louis, Missouri (18 points), and center Kristaps Porzingis of Liepaja, Latvia (12 points). Like Holiday, Tatum had a double-double, as he added 12 assists. Just like game one, a 107-89 Celtics win over the Mavericks, Porzingis reached double digits in scoring while coming off the bench.
The series now shifts to Dallas on Wednesday. In order for the Mavericks to get back into the series, they need more production from Kyrie Irving. At this time Luka Doncic has been the only Dallas player that has had any significant impact, as he has scored 62 points.
