Tyrrell Hatton, Lucas Herbert and Adrian Meronk join LIV Tour
February 1, 2024
Three more notable golfers have joined the LIV Tour. They are Adrian Meronk of Pniewy, Poland, Tyrrell Hatton of High Wycombe, England, and Lucas Herbert of Bendigo, Australia.
Meronk, who is 30 years of age, initially agreed to play on the PGA Tour according to Jack Milko of SB Nation. He even stated in December, “I’m very glad that I’m going to be playing on the PGA Tour.” Last week there was a series of suspicious events. On the morning of the Farmers Insurance Open in San Diego, Meronk withdrew from the tournament due to illness, and then hours later announced he was leaving the PGA Tour altogether for LIV according to Nick Piastowski of golf.com. For those, like me who actually picked Meronk in the golf pool this past week, there is just one word that needs to be said, and that is “Uggghhh”.
Hatton and Herbert meanwhile are PGA Tour winners. Hatton won the 2020 Arnold Palmer Invitational despite only shooting a winning score of -4. There he beat Marc Leishman of Warrnambool, Australia, by a stroke. Herbert meanwhile won the 2021 Butterfield Bermuda Championship. He beat New Zealand’s Danny Lee, and 2018 Masters champion Patrick Reed of San Antonio, Texas by a stroke after shooting a four round score of -15.
According to the Associated Press on Tuesday, Hatton will be joining Jon Rahm’s team in LIV action. Hatton and Rahm were teammates in leading Europe to a victory at the 2023 Ryder Cup in Italy. In foursome action, Hatton and Rahm beat Scottie Scheffler and Sam Burns 4&3, and Xander Schauffele and Patrick Cantlay 2&1.
