Linda Noskova of Vsetin, Czech Republic won Wimbledon in 2026 on Saturday. The 21-year-old became the youngest Wimbledon women’s singles champion in 15 years. Ironically, it was Noskova’s countrywoman, Pertra Kvitova of Bilovec, Czech Republic, who was only 21 years, three months and 25 days when she won Wimbledon in 2011. Noskova’s precise age was 21 years, seven months and 24 days.
In all-Czech final, Noskova, the ninth seed, defeated Karolina Muchova, the 10th seed, 6-2, 5-7, 6-3. One of the biggest stories of the match was that Noskova had multiple glorious opportunities to win the match in straight sets. Noskova was leading Muchova 6-2, 5-2 before Muchova won five straight games to win the second set. Noskova actually had five championship points in the second set, but could not put Muchova away.
Noskova had 10 aces compared to four for Muchova. Noskova also broke Muchova four times in 13 opportunities.
Noskova was the ninth seed and Muchova was the 10th seed. In another interesting storyline, Muchova was one of five seeded players Noskova beat at Wimbledon. The other four players were the 17th seed Sorana Cirstea of Romania (third round win by a score of 2-6, 6-3, 7-6), 26th seed Madison Keys of the United States (fourth round win by a score of 6-4, 7-6), 25th seed Elise Mertens of Belgium (quarterfinal win by a score of 6-3, 7-5), and 12th seed Marta Kostyuk of Ukraine (semifinal win by a score of 6-4, 6-4).
This was the second straight year that Noskova faced Muchova in a major. Last year Muchova defeated Noskova 6-7, 6-4, 6-2 in the third round of the 2025 United States Open.
This was Noskova’s third WTA title. She previously beat Lulu Sun of New Zealand in the final of the 2024 Monterrey Open in Mexico (7-6, 6-4) and American Jessica Pegula in the final of the 2026 German Open in Berlin (6-4, 4-6, 6-3). It is interesting that Noskova has won two women’s tennis tournaments this year on grass.
