Top five pairings of the 2024 Masters

The first major of the year commences on Thursday with the Masters from Augusta, Georgia. Here are the top five pairings for the first two rounds. All groups have a common theme, as there are two major winners in each group.
5) Brian Harman/Brooks Koepka/Tom Kim
Brian Harman of Savannah, Georgia is the reigning British Open champion. Brooks Koepka of West Palm Beach, Florida is now a five-time major champion. He has won the 2017 and 2018 United States Open, and the 2018, 2019 and 2023 PGA Championship. Kim of Seoul, South Korea, meanwhile, is 23rd in the world, and has won the last two Shriners Children’s Open titles in Las Vegas.
4) Tiger Woods/Jason Day/Max Homa
Tiger Woods of Cypress, California is in the conversation as one of the greatest golfers who has ever lived. He has won 15 major titles (five masters with the last coming in 2019, four PGA Championships, three United States Opens and three British Opens). Day of Beaudesert, Australia won the 2015 PGA Championship. Homa of Burbank, California is 11th in the world, and has six PGA Tour victories.
3) Hideki Matsuyama/Will Zalatoris/Justin Thomas
Hideki Matsuyama of Matsuyama, Japan is a prior Masters champion as he was victorious in 2021. Thomas of Louisville, Kentucky is a two-time major winner as he won the 2017 and 2022 PGA Championship. Zalatoris meanwhile, won the 2022 FedEx St. Jude Championship, and has been in the top eight in six major events in the past.
2) Wyndham Clark/Viktor Hovland/Cameron Smith
Here we have Wyndham Clark of Denver, Colorado, the reigning United States Open champion, Cameron Smith of Brisbane, Australia, the 2022 British Open champion, and Viktor Hovland of Oslo, Norway. Hovland is the reigning FedEx Cup champion and the sixth ranked golfer in the world.
1) Scottie Scheffler/Rory McIlroy/Xander Schauffele
Scheffler of Ridgewood, New Jersey is the world number one and 2022 Masters champion, McIlroy of Holywood, Northern Ireland is the world number two and four time major winner (2011 United States Open, 2012 and 2014 PGA Championship and 2014 British Open). Schauffele of San Diego, California is the world number five and reigning Olympic gold medalist.Â
