Opinion: Alejandro Tosti deserves praise for creativity in finding love at Valspar Championship

Alejandro Tosti of Rosario, Argentina is making headlines at the Valspar Championship in Tampa, Florida this week for his high level of creativity. The Valspar Championship is unique because instead of the last name of golfers appearing on the bibs of caddies, there is a message.

The message that Tosti’s caddie has on the back of his bib is “I need a wife.” Now Tosti wants to make it clear and that he is looking for a wife and not his caddie. According to Tom Hobbs of Flushing It Golf, Tosti stated, “a lot of people were asking if it was my caddie that was needing a wife, but no, it’s actually me.”

Tosti is 29 years of age. He stated it was the idea of the Valspar Championship volunteers to put the “I need a wife” on the back of his caddie’s bib when they found out Tosti was single. Tosti went on to say he loves cooking, flying planes and of course, golf.

It should also be noted that Tosti is taking this interesting measure in finding a wife rather than using dating apps. One woman that was recently taken is women’s golf star Lexi Thompson of Coral Springs, Florida, who married boyfriend Max Provost in Florida this month.

Tosti is currently ranked 310th in the world. He has participated in one major championship and that was the 2024 PGA Championship, where he finished in 73rd place. Tosti is looking to make his first cut in 2026. He has missed the cut in his first six PGA tournaments.
