The Golden State Warriors received some devastating news on Wednesday. It was reported by Sam Gordon of the San Francisco Chronicle that Warriors shooting guard Moses Moody ruptured his left patellar tendon that required knee surgery. As a result, he will be gone for the remainder of the 2025-26 National Basketball Association season.
Moody suffered the injury on Monday in the Warriors’s 137-131 overtime win over the Dallas Mavericks. The injury occurred during a shot attempt when Moody had the clear breakaway toward the basket. However, in the process of trying to make the shot in an attempted dunk, he fell before reaching the basket.
At the time of the injury, Moody was leading the Warriors in scoring with 23 points in 34 minutes and 11 seconds. The injury actually happened with 58.5 seconds left in the extra period.
Moody was having a breakout season with the Warriors. He had career highs in points per game (12.1), rebounds per game (3.3), assists per game (1.6), steals per game (one), and three point percentage (.401). Moody also had a field goal percentage of .440 and a free throw percentage of .770.
The loss of Moody is a huge loss in Golden State because he fit in well with his teammates. According to Florito Maniego of NBC Sports, Draymond Green has high praise for Moody and considers his teammate the “consummate pro.”
Now with Moody out of the lineup, the Warriors will be relying more on Steph Curry, the NBA’s all-time leading three point scorer. The Warriors are 10th in the West but have clinched a spot in the playing tournament.
