Three moves made at NFL trade deadline on Tuesday
November 3, 2021

The trade deadline for the 2021 National Football League regular season took place on Tuesday with three deals made. According to ESPN, the Kansas City Chiefs traded offensive tackle Laurent Duvernay-Tardif of St. Hilaire, Quebec, Canada to the New York Jets for tight end Daniel Brown of Windsor, Virginia. The other two deals saw the Pittsburgh Steelers trade defensive end Melvin Ingram of Hamlet, North Carolina to the Chiefs for a sixth round draft pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, and the Houston Texans trade defensive lineman Charles Omenihu of Houston, Texas to the San Francisco 49ers for a late round draft pick in 2023.
Duvernay-Tardif was part of the Chiefs team that won the Super Bowl in 2020. As a result, he won the Lou Marsh Award as Canada’s top male athlete of the year. Brown will be joining his fourth NFL team. He has previously played for the Baltimore Ravens and Chicago Bears, in addition to three years with the Jets. Even though Brown has not caught a pass this season, he does have 44 career catches for 420 yards and two touchdowns. Duvernay-Tardif meanwhile has spent his entire NFL career in Kansas City since entering the league in 2015.
Ingram will be joining his third NFL franchise after nine seasons with the Chargers and six games this season with the Steelers. So far he has one sack, one pass deflection, 10 combined tackles (five solo tackles and five assisted tackles), six quarterback hits, and two tackles for a loss. Ingram was a three-time Pro Bowler with the Chargers from 2017 to 2019.
Omenihu has 11 combined tackles (eight solo tackles and three assisted tackles), one tackle for a loss and three quarterback hits. He becomes the latest Texans player to be traded. Just last week, the Texans traded running back Mark Ingram to the New Orleans Saints.Â
