Top five groups for the 2026 Masters

The 2026 Masters begins on Thursday from Augusta, Georgia. Here are the top five groups fans should keep an eye on for the first major of the season.
5) Hideki Matsuyama/Collin Morikawa/Russell Henley
Matsuyama of Matsuyama, Japan is a Masters champion from the past as he won in 2021. Morikawa of Los Angeles, California is a two-time major champion as he won the 2020 PGA Championship and 2021 British Open. Henley, meanwhile, is 12th in the world. Golf fans should be watching Morikawa closely as he is dealing with a back injury which forced him to withdraw from the Players Championship.
4) Scottie Scheffler/Gary Woodland/Robert MacIntyre
Scheffler, the world number one from Ridgewood, New Jersey, is a four-time major champion. Â He won the 2022 and 2024 Masters, 2025 PGA Championship and 2025 British Open. Woodland of Topeka, Kansas won the 2019 United States and recently won the Houston Open, and MacIntyre of Oban, Scotland is the world number eight and has not missed the cut since the Masters last year.
3) Dustin Johnson/Shane Lowry/Jason Day
All three of these golfers are major champions. Jason Day of Beaudesert, Australia won the 2015 PGA Championship, Dustin Johnson of Columbia, South Carolina won the 2016 United States Open and 2020 Masters. and Shane Lowry of Mullingar, Ireland won the 2019 British Open.
2) Bryson DeChambeau/Matt Fitzpatrick/Xander Schauffele
All three of these golfers are major champions as well. DeChambeau and Schauffele are multiple major champions. DeChambeau of Modesto, California won the 2020 and 2024 United States Open, Schauffele of San Diego, California won the 2024 PGA Championship and 2024 British Open, Fitzpatrick of Sheffield, England won the 2022 United States Open.
1) Jordan Spieth/Justin Rose/Brooks Koepka
Just like the two aforementioned groups, all three of these golfers have won a major. Justin Rose of London, England won the 2013 United States Open, Jordan Spieth of Dallas, Texas won the 2015 Masters, 2015 United States Open and 2017 British Open, and Brooks Kopeka of West Palm Beach, Florida won the 2017 and 2018 United States Open, and 2018, 2019 and 2023 PGA Championship.
