There are eight men left in the singles draw and eight women left in the singles draw at the 2026 United States Open. Let’s take a look at the four quarterfinal matches for both draws.

Men
(1) Alexander Zverev–GER vs. Botic van de Zandschulp–NED

Zverev won the French Open earlier this year for his first career major title. Van de Zandschulp has been to two career men’s semifinals after making the 2021 United States Open quarterfinal. This will be their first career matchup head-to-head.

(2) Carlos Alcaraz–ESP vs. (8) Ben Shelton–USA

Alcaraz is looking good after recovering from his wrist injury. The defending champion is facing the 2023 United States Open semifinalist and 2025 Australian Open semifinalist. Alcaraz has won all three prior meetings–6-3, 7-6 in the second round of Toronto in 2023, 6-4, 6-4 in the round robin of the Laver Cup in Berlin in 2024 and 7-6, 6-3, 4-6, 6-4 in the fourth round of the 2025 French Open.

(11) Frances Tiafoe vs. Alex Michelsen–USA

In this all-American battle, Tiafoe previously made the semifinals of the United States Open in 2022 and 2024. This is Michelsen’s first ever grand slam quarterfinal. Tiafoe has beaten Michelsen twice before in Texas. The first time was 6-4, 6-3 in the second round of Dallas in 2024 and the second time was 7-5, 6-1 in the quarterfinals of Houston in 2025.

(28) Alexander Blockx–BEL vs. Karen Khachanov–RUS

This is a battle of the 21-year-old Belgian sensation against the 30-year-old Russian, who is ranked 50th in the world, but has been to two grand slam semifinals (2022 United States Open and 2023 Australian Open). This is their first ever meeting.

Women
(1) Aryna Sabalenka–BLR vs. (6) Linda Noskova–CZE

Sabalenka is the defending United States Open champion and Noskova is the Wimbledon champion. Sabalenka has won two prior meetings–6-3, 7-6 in the 2023 Adelaide final and 6-3, 6-4 in the semifinals of Indian Wells this year.

(2) Elena Rybakina–KAZ vs. Qinwen Zheng–CHN

Here we have the 2026 Australian Open champion in Rybakina against the reigning Olympic gold medalist in Zheng. Rybakina has won four of five meetings including two wins this year–4-6, 6-2, 7-5 in the third round of Doha, and 4-6, 6-4, 6-3 in the third round of Madrid. Rybakina is number one in the world with a win.

(3) Jessica Pegula–USA vs. (26) Emma Navarro–USA

Pegula is the 2024 United States Open finalist and Navarro is the 2024 United States Open semifinalist. Both players hail from New York state. Pegula has won all four prior matchups–7-6, 6-3 in the fourth round of Miami in 2024, 6-4, 1-6, 6-3 in the quarterfinals of Bad Homburg in 2025, 6-7, 6-2, 6-1 in the quarterfinals of Beijing in 2025, and 7-5, 6-2 in the third round of Cincinnati in 2026.

(4) Coco Gauff–USA vs. (5) Mirra Andreeva–RUS

In a juicy women’s quarterfinal matchup featuring two of the top five players in the world, we have the French Open champion in Andreeva against the two-time grand slam champion (2023 United States Open and 2025 French Open) in Gauff. Gauff has won all five matches head-to-head in the past.
