Most of the world’s best golfers are taking a week off this week as they prepare for The Masters next week. However, many high quality golfers still choose to compete one week before the first major of the year so they do not lose momentum when it comes to their game. Here are the three golfers we like the most at the 2023 Valero Texas Open.
Tyler Hatton
The world number 17 is the odds on favourite to win this week. Hatton, a native of High Wycombe who has been ranked as high as fifth in the world, has made his last 18 cuts including four top-seven finishes in 2023. Those were a second place finish at the 2023 Players Championship, a fourth place at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, a sixth place at the Waste Management Phoenix Open, and a seventh place at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship.

Corey Conners
The Canadian from Listowel, Ontario won the 2019 Valero Texas Open where he beat American Charley Hoffman by two strokes. This was in fact the only PGA title of Connners’s career. The world number 40 has only missed the cut once in 2023 and that was at the Players Championship.

J.J. Spaun
The native of Los Angeles, California is the defending champion. At the 2022 Valero Texas Open, Spaun posted a four round score of -13 to defeat American Matt Kuchar and Australian Matt Jones by two strokes. Spaun will not face a test from Jones this year, as he is part of the LIV Tour now.
