For the second straight week, the PGA Tour will be competing on the American island of Hawaii. We were correct in our belief that Spain’s Jon Rahm would win a week ago in Maui at the Tournament of Champions. It is now time to take a look at the three golfers we like the most at the 2023 Sony Open in Honolulu.
1) Tom Kim
The 20-year-old South Korean phenom from Seoul, who is also known as Joo-Hyung Kim, won twice on the PGA Tour in the second half of 2022. He first won at the Wyndham Championship in August, and then the Shriners Children’s Open in Las Vegas in October. What is remarkable is that Kim is already the 15th ranked golfer in the world, and the top ranked Asian golfer.

2) Hideki Matsuyama
The 2021 Masters champion from Japan also won the 2022 Sony Open. There he beat Russell Henley of the United States in a playoff. Matsuyama is now 30 years of age, and is the 21st ranked golfer in the world at this time. The two-time Summer Universiade gold medalist won twice in Shenzhen, China in 2011.

3) Russell Henley
The 33-year-old from Macon, Georgia is currently 31st in the world. In addition to forcing a playoff against Matsuyama a year ago, Henley was victorious in November of 2022, when he beat American Brian Harman by four strokes to win the World Wide Technology Championship in Mayakoba, Mexico. This was Henley’s fourth PGA Tour title of his career as he also won the 2013 Sony Open, the 2014 Honda Classic, and the 2017 Shell Houston Open. When Henley won in Honolulu a decade ago, he beat South Africa’s Tim Clark by three strokes and had a four-round score of -24.
