Top five storylines from week one of the 2022 NFL season

Week 1 of the National Football League season is in the books. Here are five intriguing storylines.
5) Week 1 Tie.
The Indianapolis Colts and Houston Texans played to a week one 20-20 tie. The Colts were led by new quarterback Matt Ryan (352 passing yards), running back Jonathan Taylor (161 yards rushing), and wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. (121 yards receiving). Tight end O.J. Howard had two touchdown catches for 38 yards in his Texans debut.

There were four notable upsets in week one. The Pittsburgh Steelers beat the Cincinnati Bengals 23-20 in overtime, the Chicago Bears beat the San Francisco 49ers 19-10, the New York Giants beat the Tennessee Titans 21-20, and the Seattle Seahawks beat the Denver Broncos 17-16. Steelers safety Minkah Fitzpatrick had one of the top plays of the week as he blocked a convert attempt by Evan McPherson of the Bengals which would have given Cincinnati the win. The Bears defense meanwhile came up huge as they limited San Francisco to a second half field goal. Saquon Barkley had 164 yard rushing for the Giants, while the Seahawks beat their old quarterback in Russell Wilson.
3) Cade York shines the Browns
It was an unbelievable day for Browns rookie kicker Cade York. The LSU product kicked the game-winning field goal from 58 yards with eight seconds left as the Cleveland Browns beat the Carolina Panthers 26-24. It was one of four fired goals York kicked on Sunday.

2) Patrick Mahomes shines.
It was another fantastic day for Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes of Tyler, Texas. He completed 30 of 39 passes for 360 yards and five touchdowns as the Chiefs clobbered the Arizona Cardinals 44-21. Travis Kelce had eight catches for 121 yards and one touchdown. There is no doubt Arizona is missing wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins.
1) Dak Prescott injures his thumb.
Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott had right thumb surgery after suffering an injury late in the Sunday nighter. Prescott could be out two months and Jerry Jones is already exploring his options for Prescott’s replacement at quarterback. Even while Prescott was playing, the Dallas offense was awful in a 19-3 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
