We are now beginning the last full week of January. Here are three teams I like on January 23.
Atlanta Hawks @ Chicago Bulls–8 PM ET
The Hawks are in eighth place in the Eastern Conference at 24 wins and 23 losses. The Bulls hold down the 10th spot in the East, which would qualify them for the mediocre play-in event.
My take:
The Hawks are winners of five of their last six, with their only loss coming to Charlotte by a score of 122-118 in their last game on Saturday. One reason to take Atlanta is this will be Chicago’s first game since beating Detroit 126-108 in Paris on January 19. Due to the jet lag factor, it may take the Bulls a game or two to feel normal again. I like Atlanta at +1 and the under at 239.5.

The Trail Blazers and Spurs are among the worst teams in the West. Portland is at 21-25 and San Antonio is at 14-32.
My take:
The Spurs have only won five games on the road all season long. and playing in Portland can be definitely challenging in the best of times. Only the Houston Rockets with four wins, have won fewer games on the road than San Antonio. Take the Trail Blazers at -8 and the under at 241. Memphis Grizzlies @ Sacramento Kings–10:30 PM ET
Memphis is second in the West at 31-15, while Sacramento is third in the West at 26-19.
My take:
The Grizzlies are playing their second game of a back-to-back and will enter northern California in a grumpy mood after losing 112-110 to Phoenix on Sunday. However, the Grizzlies can enter their game against the Kings with momentum. That is because they outscored the Suns 73-50 in the second half. Take the Grizzlies at -1.5, and the under at 245.5.
