History was made in the National Basketball Association on Wednesday night. The Minnesota Timberwolves had the biggest comeback within overtime all-time in the NBA.
Minnesota and Houston were tied at 95 after 48 minutes. Then what we saw in overtime was downright wacky and bizarre. The Rockets scored the first 13 points in the extra period to take a 108-95 lead in the first minute and 59 seconds of overtime. Then the Timberwolves stormed all the way back with a 15-0 run of their own in the final three minutes and one second for the dramatic 110-108 win.
The game was tied at 108-108 with eight seconds left. That is when Timberwolves power forward Julius Randle of Dallas, Texas had the game winning jump shot from 10 feet.
Five Timberwolves players reached double digits in points. Power forward Jaden McDaniels of  Federal Way, Washington led the way with 25 points. He was followed by Randle with 24 points, shooting guard Donte DiVincenzo of Newark, Delaware with 17 points, and centers Rudy Gobert of Saint-Quentin, France and Naz Reid of Asbury, New Jersey with 14 points each.
The fact that Reid produced off the bench is no surprise. He won the sixth man of the year in 2024. Reid and Gobert also had double doubles. Reid had 13 rebounds and Gobert had 14 rebounds.
With the win, the Timberwolves improved to a record of 45 wins and 28 losses. The Rockets dropped to a record of 43 wins and 29 losses.
This was the second notable win for the Timberwolves this week. On Sunday, they beat the Boston Celtics 102-92 as a 10 point underdog.
