Lauren Coughlin leads after round one of the 2024 Chevron Championship

Lauren Coughlin of Minneapolis, Minnesota is the round one leader after the 2024 Chevron Championship in Woodlands, Texas. Coughlin is at -6. The 31-year-old is looking for her very first LPGA Tour victory.
In her first round, Coughlin had six birdies and zero bogeys. She birdied the second, fourth, fifth, 10th, 11th, and 18th holes.
Coughlin currently leads Marina Alex of Wayne, New Jersey, Nelly Korda of Bradenton, Florida and Minami Katsu of Kagoshima City, Japan by two strokes. The most notable player of the three at -4 is clearly Korda, the world number one. Korda, the 2021 Women’s PGA Championship winner and reigning Olympic gold medalist, has had a very impressive 2024 season on the LPGA Tour where she has already won four tournaments. Korda’s titles have come at the 2024 LPGA Drive on Championship in her hometown of Bradenton on January 28, the Fir Hills Seri Pak Championship in Los Angeles, California on March 24, the Ford Championship in Gilbert, Arizona on March 31, and the T-Mobile Match Play Championship in Las Vegas, Nevada on April 7.
Meanwhile there are five golfers tied for fifth place. There you can find South Korea’s Jin Hee Im, New Zealand’s Lydia Ko, Thailand’s Atthaya Thitikul, China’s Xiyu Lin, and Australia’s Gabriela Ruffels. Of these five are one major champion. Ko won the 2015 Evian Championship and 2016 ANA Inspiration.
In other women’s golf news, Lilia Vu of Fountain Valley, California, withdrew from the Chevron Championship because of a back injury. Vu won the 2023 Chevron Championship and beat fellow American Angel Yin in a playoff.
