The Milwaukee Brewers tied a Major League Baseball record for most strikeouts in a nine inning baseball game on Thursday. The Brewers struck out 20 batters in a 14-2 romp over the Chicago White Sox at American Family Field in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
The Brewers leader in strikeouts was Jacob Misiorowski of Blue Springs, Missouri, who had 11 strikeouts. Meanwhile, relievers DL Hall of Valdosta, Georgia and Jake Woodford of St. Petersburg, Florida had three strikeouts each, Aaron Ashby of Kansas City, Missouri had two strikeouts and Grant Anderson of Port Arthur, Texas had one strikeout.
Misiorowski’s 11 strikeouts were an Opening Day record for the Brewers. According to Jack Baer of Yahoo! Sports, Ben Sheets of Rouge, Louisiana and Freddy Peralta of Moca, Dominican Republic had the old record with eight strikeouts. Sheets had eight strikeouts on April 2, 2002 in a 9-3 Brewers win over the Houston Astros. Peralta had eight strikeouts in a  3-1 Brewers win over the New York Mets on March 29, 2024 and in a 4-2 Brewers loss to the New York Yankees on March 27, 2025.
This is the 10th time in Major League Baseball history a team has had 20 strikeouts in a nine inning game according to Bradford Doolittle of TSN. Four times teams have had 26 strikeouts in a game.
Misiorowski was a National League All-Star in 2025. What was the most stunning of his selection was the fact he only pitched five Major League Baseball games at the time of his honour. Now heading into 2026, Misiorowski becomes the Brewers ace with Freddy Peralta going to the New York Mets. Quinn Priester starting the season on the injury list with a wrist injury, and Jose Quintana signing with the Colorado Rockies.Â
