Our three best tips for the Valspar Championship
March 16, 2023

The big three on the PGA Tour on not competing this week, a week after the 2023 Players Championship. Here are the three golfers we like this week at the 2023 Valspar Championship in Palm Harbor, Florida, just outside of Tampa.
Justin Thomas
The 2017 and 2022 PGA Championship winner has made the cut in all six events he has participated in during 2023, and has made the cut in 12 straight events overall. One thing that might be a tad disconcerting though is the fact Thomas had a 60th place finish in Jacksonville a week ago. One must realize that the Valspar Championship has an easier field and Thomas should have a much better result this week.

Jordan Spieth
The three time major champion (2015 U.S. Open and Masters and 2017 British Open) has looked very good the last two weeks. Spieth had a fourth place finish at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and a 19th place finish at the Players Championship. In that time, he went -13. When Spieth had his magical 2015 golf season, where he was a multiple major champion, he also won the Valspar Championship. There he beat Americans Sean O’Hair and Patrick Reed in a playoff by shooting a four round score of -10.

Adam Hadwin
A favourite golfer among Canadians as he is Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan born, Hadwin was a very respectable -7 last week at the Players Championship. One reason you must like Hadwin is because of his consistency. He has only missed one cut in his last 14 events. Hadwin’s lone PGA Tour win came at the 2017 Valspar Championship. There he shot a score of -14 and beat American Patrick Cantlay by a single stroke.
