Five MLB pitchers switch teams in free agency

Major League Baseball free agency is in full swing. Here are five more pitchers who switched teams over the last 48 hours. Remarkably, three of the pitchers signed for the exact amount.
Caleb Ferguson
The lefthander from Columbus, Ohio signed a one year contract on Tuesday with the Cincinnati Reds. In 70 games with the Pittsburgh Pirates and Seattle Mariners, he had a record of five wins and four losses with an earned run average of 3.58. In 65 1/3 innings pitched, Ferguson gave up 54 hits, 26 earned runs, two home runs and 22 walks, to go along with 51 strikeouts, 14 holds and a WHIP (walks and hits per innings pitched) of 1.16. Ferguson also played five seasons with the Los Angeles Dodgers and shared 2024 with the New York Yankees and Houston Astros.

The righthander from Tahlequah, Oklahoma, signed a two year contract worth $22 million with the San Francisco Giants on Tuesday. Houser is joining his fifth MLB team after seven seasons with the Milwaukee Brewers (2015, 2018 to 2023), one full season with the New York Mets (2024), and sharing last season with the Chicago White Sox and Tampa Bay Rays (2025).
In 2025 while playing for the White Sox and Rays, Houser started 21 games and had a record of eight wins and five losses with an earned run average of 3.31. During 125 innings pitched, Houser gave up 122 hits, 46 earned runs, 10 home runs and 38 walks, to go along with 92 strikeouts, 11 quality starts and a WHIP of 1.28.
 Brad Keller
The righthander from Snellville, Georgia signed a two-year deal with the Philadelphia Phillies on Wednesday worth $22 million. Keller is joining his fifth MLB team after six seasons with the Kansas City Royals (2018 to 2023), sharing 2024 with the Chicago White Sox and Boston Red Sox and playing the 2025 season with the Chicago Cubs.
In 2025, Keller pitched in 68 games, and had a record of four wins and two losses with an earned run average of 2.07. During 69 2/3 innings pitched, he had three saves, 25 holds, and 75 strikeouts, and gave up 45 hits, 16 earned runs, four home runs, and 22 walks, to go along with a WHIP of 0.96.
Drew Pomeranz
The All-Star southpaw from Memphis, Tennessee signed a one-year deal worth $4 million with the Los Angeles Angels on Tuesday. The Angels will be Pomeranz’s ninth Major League Baseball team. He previously pitched three seasons with the Colorado Rockies (2011 to 2013), two seasons with the Oakland Athletics (2014 and 2015), one season with the San Diego Padres (2016), three seasons with the Boston Red Sox (2016 to 2018), shared the 2019 season between the San Francisco Giants and Milwaukee Brewers, two seasons with the San Diego Padres (2020 and 2021), and one season with the Chicago Cubs (2025). Pomeranz was an All-Star with the Padres in 2016, and won a World Series with the Red Sox in 2018.
This past season with the Angels, Pomeranz pitched in 57 games and had a record of two wins and two losses with an earned run average of 2.47. During 49 2/3 innings pitched, Pomeranz had one save, 14 holds, and 57 strikeouts, and gave up 38 hits, 12 earned runs, five home runs, and 15 walks, to go along with a WHIP of 1.07. Pomeranz’s save came in a 5-2 Cubs win over the Miami Marlins on May 12. Pomeranz’s first win came in a 6-2 Cubs win over the Chicago White Sox on May 18 and his second win came in an 11-8 Cubs win over the Cincinnati Reds on May 25.
Luke Weaver
The righthander from DeLand, Florida is joining his seventh MLB team. He was previously with the St. Louis Cardinals (2016 to 2018), the Arizona Cardinals (2019 to 2022), the Kansas City Royals (2022), the Cincinnati Reds (2023), Seattle Mariners (2023), and New York Yankees (2023 to 2025).
In 2025 with the Yankees, Weaver had a record of four wins and four losses with an earned run average of 3.62. In 64 games and 64 2/3 innings pitched, he had eight saves, 21 holds, 72 strikeouts, and gave up 46 hits, 26 earned runs, 10 home runs, and 20 walks, to go along with  a WHIP of 1.02.
