Kon Knueppel sets Charlotte Hornets record for most three point shots made in a season

It was a memorable Thursday evening for Charlotte Hornets small forward Kon Knueppel of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. In a dominant 127-107 Hornets win over the Phoenix Suns, Knueppel set the Hornets franchise record for most three pointers in a season with 261 according to Steve Reed of the Associated Press. It should also new noted that Knueppel’s 261 three point shots lead the NBA and is the most ever by a rookie in a single season.
Knueppel set the record with eight minutes and 25 seconds left in the fourth quarter. His three point shot went 23 feet and put the Hornets up 115-95 at the time. Power forward Grant Williams of Houston, Texas had the lone assist.
The previous record for most three point shots made by a Hornets player belonged to point guard Kemba Walker of The Bronx, New York, who made 260 three point shots during the 2018-19 NBA regular season.
In addition to Knueppel setting the Hornets franchise record for single season three point shots made, Collin Gillespie of Huntingdon Valley, Pennsylvania set the Suns record for most single season three point shots made with 227. Quentin Richardson of Chicago, Illinois had the old Suns record with 226 set in the 2004-05 season.
During the 2025-26 NBA season, Knueppel is averaging 18.8 points per game, 5.4 rebounds per game, and 3.4 assists per game. He has a field goal percentage of .482, three point percentage of .431, and free throw percentage of .863.
With the win, the Hornets improved to a record of 41 wins and 36 losses. They are in eighth place in the Eastern Conference.
