After speculation that future Hall of Fame linebacker Von Miller of DeSoto, Texas may retire at age 36, it was announced on Wednesday by the Associated Press that Miller will be back for the 2025 National Football League season. The Super Bowl most valuable player from 2016 with the Denver Broncos, signed a one-year deal with the Washington Commanders. The financial terms of the contract have not been released.
Miller will be joining his fourth NFL franchise. He previously played 10 seasons with the Broncos. Miller was with Denver for nine straight seasons from 2011 to 2019, and again for the first half of the 2021 NFL regular season. Miller then finished the 2021 NFL season with the Los Angeles Rams, before playing the last three seasons with the Buffalo Bills.
This past season Miller had 17 combined tackles (13 solo tackles and four assisted tackles), seven tackles for a loss, six sacks and eight quarterback hits. Miller also made headlines because he was suspended four games for violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy.Â
Miller was an eight-time Pro Bowler with the Broncos. He was honoured in his his first two NFL season in 2011 and 2012, and then six straight seasons from 2014 to 2029.
Prior to Super Bowl 50, there was high speculation if the Broncos won the Super Bowl, then the MVP would be quarterback Peyton Manning. However, it in fact was Miller, who had a game-high two forced fumbles in a 24-10 Broncos win over the Carolina Panthers. He also had two quarterback hits, six combined tackles, 2.5 sacks and one pass deflection. Miller also won a Super Bowl with the Rams in 2022.
