There was a significant trade made in the National Football League on Monday between the New England Patriots and Philadelphia Eagles. According to the Associated Press, the Eagles have traded wide receiver A.J. Brown of Starkville, Mississippi to the Patriots for two draft picks. The Eagles will be receiving a first round pick in 2028 and a fifth round pick in 2027.
The Patriots will be Brown’s third National Football League franchise. He previously played three seasons with the Tennessee Titans from 2019 to 2021, and the last four seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles.
In 2025 with the Eagles, Brown had 78 catches for 1003 receiving yards and seven touchdown catches. It was the sixth time in his NFL career, he eclipsed 1000 receiving yards in a season.
Three times in Brown’s career he was selected to the Pro Bowl. In 2020, Brown had 70 catches for 1075 receiving yards and 11 touchdown catches while with the Titans. In 2022, he had 88 catches for 1496 receiving yards and 11 touchdown catches while with the Eagles. In 2023, Brown had 106 catches for 1456 receiving yards and seven touchdowns while with the Eagles. In 2022, Brown had the fourth most receiving yards in the NFL, and in 2023, he had the fifth most receiving yards in the NFL.
Brown also won a Super Bowl with the Eagles. He was part of the Philadelphia team that won Super Bowl LIX. Brown had three catches for 43 yards and one touchdown in a 40-22 Eagles win over the Kansas City Chiefs. The touchdown catch was 24 yards from quarterback Jalen Hurts and put the Eagles up 24-0 with one minute and 35 seconds left in the first half.
In joining the Patriots, Brown is reunited with New England head coach Mike Vrabel. The former Patriot linebacker was Brown’s coach in Tennessee.
