Top five storylines from Week Nine of the 2022 NFL Season

The ninth week of the 2022 National Football League season is now complete. Here are five of the top storylines.
5) Death of Dave Butz.
On Friday, former Washington Redskins and St. Louis Cardinals defensive tackle Dave Butz died a the age of 72. The native of LaFayette, Alabama won Super Bowls with the Redskins in 1983 and 1988. He was also selected to the Pro Bowl in 1983. In 216 NFL games from 1973 to 1988, Butz had 64 sacks. The fifth overall pick in the 1973 NFL Draft by the Cardinals, Butz was very intimidating, as he was 6’8″, 295 pounds.

Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce had memorable games for the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday night in primetime, a 20-17 overtime win over the Tennessee Titans. Mahomes completed 43 passes in 68 attempts for 446 yards and one touchdown. He also became the first Chiefs quarterback with back-to-back 400-yard passing games. On October 23 in a 44-23 Chiefs win over the San Francisco 49ers, Mahomes completed 25 passes in 34 attempts for 423 yards and three touchdowns.
Kelce meanwhile had 10 catches for 106 yards. With the 100-yard game in receiving, he tied Rob Gronkowski’s record for most 100-yard receiving games in a career as a tight end with 32. The Chiefs are 6-2 and lead the AFC West.

3) Jets defense stops Bills offensive attack.
Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen was not pleased with his performance on Sunday. He described his performance on Sunday as “shit” in a 20-17 loss to the New York Jets. The Bills have now lost twice this season–and both to AFC East rivals (other loss to Miami). Allen barely threw over 50%, had two interceptions, 16 incompletions, and was sacked five times. The Jets defense deserves much of the credit. In addition to the two picks, the Jets defensive line forced two Bills fumbles. With the win, the Jets are 6-3.
2) Tom Brady reaches 100,000 passing yards.
Tom Brady, considered by many as the greatest of all-time, has reached another NFL milestone. On Sunday, he had his 100,000th passing yard (regular season and playoffs) on a 15-yard pass to running back Leonard Fournette in a 16-13 Buccaneers win over the Los Angeles Rams. Brady now has 87067 passing yards in the regular season, and 13049 passing yards in the playoffs for 100116 yards overall. Join Our Competition Club Here
1) Amazing day for Bengals running back Joe Mixon.
The 26-year-old native of Antioch, California had a day to remember for the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday. He had 22 rushes for 153 yards and four rushing touchdown, along with four catches for 58 yards and another major score. Mixon’s five touchdowns set a franchise record for most touchdowns in a single game as the Bengals defeated the Carolina Panthers 42-21 to improve their record to five wins and four losses.
