The Edge NSW: NSW & Country Service – Friday 8/10

Tips, Previews and our Staking plan for the Port Macquarie and Albury meetings on Friday.

Port Macquarie R3
2.5u Black Jacamar $3.1

Resuming. Finished off last prep 3rd 0.3L here over 1000m with blinkers first time, slowly away from a wide gate. She was worked hard early but still managed to record some handy figures. Blinkers have seemed to get a couple more lengths out of her. Goes well fresh. Expect to be on the speed from the soft draw.

Port Macquarie R8
1.25u Foxstorm $5

On-pace type who’s going great this prep and looks well placed dropping down in grade. Has strung three 2nds from three starts this prep in tougher grades. Steps up to the 1200m on the back of two starts at 1100m hitting the line strong on both occasions. Fit and the step up in trip will suit. Maps perfectly, expect to be prominent. Winona in the saddle is a bonus. Couple gear changes last start but those are reverted here.

Albury R4
2u Blessed Award $3.8

The switch to the Travers stable has seem to get the best out of him. Travers took the blinkers off and rode him for two starts over 1000, finishing 6th at Goulburn 6.5L on heavy and 2nd at Narrandera 0.3L. He then chucked the blinkers back on and found a couple more lengths. He strung two solid efforts together at Wagga over 1200, settling closer and hitting the line well both starts. 1400m and barrier 2 are both ticks.
