The Edge NSW: Friday 15/10 – NSW & Country Service

Staking plan and previews for Fridays racing at Bathurst and Taree.

Taree Race 1
1u In Hot Water $6.5

Switched stables this prep and resumed with an average performance. She was then fitted with a couple gear chances and ran a solid 3rd at Port over 1200m. She missed the kick and worked early, she was also strong late running some good L200 splits. Third up, on the quick back-up and up to 1400. Relishes the wet. Not much speed outside of Wiki here, can settle close.

Taree Race 5
1.5u Standing Bear $4.6

Steps up in trip on the back of a solid last start finishing 2nd 3L at Port 0ver 1100m. Raced in the Concord against the big Everest sprinters and recorded a handy rating. Has shown glimpses of class and handles the wet. Blinkers came off last start on the back of two average starts where noticeably over-raced. Maps well here, expect to be prominent in a slow gallop, has the turn of foot.

Taree Race 5
0.1u Raay Of Dreams $51

Resumed for the new stable last start finishing 4th 3.8L at Port over 1100m with the blinkers coming off first time. He settled well back in the field behind a very slow tempo but ran on well recording an outstanding last 200 split, 11.3L quicker than cls average. She draws the rails here and in a race without much speed can settle close. Handles the wet. Comes in under the radar.

Bathurst Race 7
2u Romeo Vella $4

Blinkers came back on and the tongue tie came off two starts back and have seen lengths better ratings. Two back finished 6th 2.6L at Moruya over 1200 on a slow going. He got back in running from a wide alley after jumping well and made good ground in the straight. Last start he finished 2nd 0.5L at Wagga over 1200m. He sat box seat on a good speed and was strong late suggesting the 1400 will be a positive. Has the speed to cover the draw.

Lack of tips over the last week have been due to the state of the tracks. Kembla was postponed because of the state of the track and half the fields were scratched prior. Similar story with Newcastle on Tuesday.
