Streets Of Avalon to headline Group 3 Bletchingly
July 21, 2021
After taking out the Group 1 Orr Stakes during the Autumn the six-year-old is looking to kickstart his Spring campaign when he lines up in the Group 3 Bletchingly Stakes at Caulfield on Saturday.
Mornington trainer Shane Nichols kicked the gelding off in the same race last year running a nice 2nd to Viridine and hopes he can replicate a similar performance on Saturday.
“He’s in pretty good shape, he’ll improve off what he does on Saturday.
“If the tracks ok, he’ll run well but he will improve what he does,” said Nichols.
With a plethora of options for Streets Of Avalon this Spring over the 1200-1600 metre range there is one in particular that Nichols has pinpointed.
“He’ll be spot on come Memsie day, he’s not going to run in a lot of Group 1’s during the Spring.”
Zac Spain continues his association with the gelding after their Group 1 triumph earlier this year.
Also lining up in the Group 3 on Saturday is last year’s winner Viridine who comes off a solid first up run in the John Monash. Damien Oliver takes the ride and will need to produce one of his best after drawing gate 10.
Whilst Godolphin also have Isaurian in the contest with Jamie Kah to ride from barrier 7.
The last start John Monash winner Red Can Man looks to make it two on trot and has drawn perfectly in gate 3 under Billy Egan
