Trial Review: Horses That Caught The Eye At The Trials This Week 27/3

Rosehill and Randwick hosted Sydney trials this week. Our analyst has black booked 6 runners across the two mornings.

Plaintiff

The Snowden filly looks ready to hit the ground running after a nice win in her 1050m Rosehill trial. She settled midfield amongst a wall of horses and trucked through the line without being asked to do much to record a 0.1L win over the likes of Amor Victorious and Giga Kick. The G2 Arrowfield looks a likely target 1st up in a fortnight.

Tempted

The Maher filly looks to have freshened up nicely since her G1 Surround win a month ago. She sat outside lead and let down really strongly under minimal riding to record a 1.7L victory. She will be dropping back to 1200m to contest either the G2 Arrowfield or the G1 TJ Smith over The Championships.

Bev’s Nine

The undefeated O’Shea & Charlton 4yo went forward and was headed at the top of the straight before rallying back nicely to work away for a 0.9L win. He looks capable of adding to the picket fence stepping up to Saturday company for the first time.

Blue Door

The Baker 2yo filly is definitely one to look out for on debut after going straight to the front in her 900m trial and exploding away for a big 7.6L victory recording a time that was nearly 1s quicker than the next fastest 2yo trial on the morning.

Akaysha

The Snowden filly looked great settling back in the field for her 1050m Randwick trial and running on sharply when shaken up at the 200m to finish 1.6L 2nd to Overpass in a trial that included Tentyris and Joker’s Grin. She has been frustrating for those following with a 8: 1-3-1 career record. Her race pattern is a factor in that but if she lands in a suitable race that looks to have a hot tempo, particularly in a wet track, then I could easily find myself with her again.

Miss Freelove

Another Snowden filly that caught the eye on a Heavy 8 at the Randwick trials. She settled at the rear and really rocketed down the outside the final furlong to score a 0.5L win. If she finds a fillies race on a Heavy track over the latter stages of the carnival she should be hard to beat.
