Shai Gilgeous-Alexander having an impact in 2025 Western Conference Finals
May 24, 2025
The Oklahoma City Thunder are only six wins away from winning the NBA Finals. On Thursday night at the Paycom Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma we saw the best of what NBA MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander of Toronto, Ontario brings to the table.
Gilgeous-Alexander is bringing exceptional poise and leadership at this time to OKC. You can see it with the conversations he is having with his teammates.
In game two of the Western Conference Final, Gilgeous-Alexander showed excellence from both sides of the court. He scored 38 points in a convincing 118-103 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves. With the victory, the Thunder lead the Western Conference best out of seven series two games to none. Gilgeous-Alexander made 12 of 21 field goals, 13 of 15 free throws, and one of two three point shots. He also had eight assists, three steals, and three rebounds, and was a very impressive +25.
We also saw excellence from Thunder All-Star shooting guard Jalen Williams of Denver, Colorado. Williams had the double double as he had 26 points and 10 rebounds. Meanwhile, center Chet Holmgren of Minneapolis, Minnesota had 22 points.
It was also a special day for another Canadian in small forward Luguentz Dort of Montreal, Quebec. Earlier in the day, he was named to the NBA’s All-Defensive team. Then in game two, Dort was a +29. It was Dort’s second best +/- of his playoff career. In game two of the second round in Oklahoma City’s dominant 149-106 win over the Denver Nuggets, Dort was a +34. The series now shifts to Minnesota with game three on Saturday.
