The Oklahoma City Thunder must have been very upset with their game one loss to the Denver Nuggets on Monday. As a result we saw an offensive explosion for the ages which tied the best out of seven series at one game apiece.

The Thunder clobbered the Nuggets in game two by a score of 149-106. It was the most points the Thunder ever scored in a playoff game. The previous record was 133 which was set on May 22, 2016 in a 133-105 Oklahoma City win over the Golden State Warriors in game three of the 2016 Western Conference Finals.

The Nuggets also allowed the third most points in a playoff game in franchise history. They lost 153-109 to the Los Angeles Lakers on May 22, 1985, and 152-133 to the San Antonio Spurs on April 26, 1983.

We are not done with records set. The Thunder also tied the NBA record for most points in a single half in a playoff game with 87. By the 24 minute mark, Oklahoma City had a commanding 87-56 lead. The Thunder tied the record previously set by the Milwaukee Bucks, who scored 87 second half points in a 143-112 win over the Nuggets on April 23, 1978.

The Thunder player who starred in the first half was Canadian guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander of Toronto, Ontario, who had 18 points. He finished the game with a team-high 34 points.

There were a total of eight Thunder players who reached double digits in total points. Forward Jalen Williams of Denver, Colorado had 17 points, center Chet Holmgren of Minneapolis, Minnesota had 15 points, center Isaiah Hartenstein of Eugene, Oregon had 14 points, shooting guard Isaiah Joe of Fort Smith, Arkansas had 14 points, Canadian small forward Luguentz Dort of Montreal, Quebec had 12 points, and shooting guard Ajay Mitchell of Namur, Belgium and shooting guard Aaron Wiggins of Greensboro, North Carolina had 10 points each. Holmgren had a double-double as he had 11 rebounds.
