Sepp Straka wins 2025 American Express

For the third time in his professional golf career, Sepp Straka of Vienna, Austria has won on the PGA Tour. On Sunday, he was victorious in Palm Springs, California, as Straka won the 2025 American Express.
Straka’s two prior PGA Tour wins were the 2022 Honda Classic and the 2023 John Deere Classic. When Straka won the Honda Classic three years ago, he became the first Austrian to ever win on the PGA Tour.
Over this past weekend in the California desert, Straka shot a four round score of -25. Justin Thomas of Louisville, Kentucky, the 2017 and 2022 PGA Championship winner, was alone in second place at -23. Meanwhile, Australian Jason Day of Beaudesert, the 2015 PGA Championship winner, and Justin Lower of Canal Fulton, Ohio were tied for third place at -22.
Straka was actually at -27 at one point in the tournament. However, he had fourth round bogeys on Sunday on the 16th and 18th holes to drop from -27 to -25. One of the bogeys came on a par five as Straka posted a score of six.
Over the first three rounds of the American Express, Straka was brilliant. He had a first round score on Thursday of seven-under-par 65 (seven birdies and zero bogeys) on the Nicklaus Tournament Course, a second round score on Friday of eight-under-par 64 (eight birdie and zero bogeys) on the Pete Dye Stadium Course, and a third round score on Saturday of eight-under-par 64 (eight birdies and zero bogeys) at the La Quinta Country Club. In the fourth round, Straka had a score of 70 (two-under-par) at the La Quinta Country Club (four birdies and two bogeys), with his first tournament bogey coming on the aforementioned 16th hole on Sunday.
