Randwick Preview: Cummings Predicts A Better Anamoe
August 20, 2022
James Cummings is confident Anamoe will continue his spiral of improving every campaign as the star galloper prepares for his return to racing in Group 1 Winx Stakes (1400 metres) at Randwick on Saturday.
The three times Group 1 winner and Cox Plate runner-up will resume in a star-studded affair where he will be against Duais, Profondo, Forbidden Love and Fangirl.
The Godolphin trainer said on RSN that Anamoe had amazed him throughout his career with his ability to come back a better horse each campaign.
He said from a late two-year-old through to now Anamoe had continued to develop which didn’t happen often.

“He’s been strategically prepared to have given him the grounding for this campaign. He’s right for the challenge this weekend and then up for the rest of the spring,” Cummings said.
Cummings said Anamoe was a more measured horse this campaign.
He said that last time in work when Anamoe finished a first-up third in the Group 2 Expressway Stakes he had a short turnaround from the spring.
“It’s an opportunity. He’s going from three to four and the challenge is great taking on open company. I like what I’m seeing though,” Cummings said.
Cummings said from barrier one he hoped Anamoe would travel kindly in the run.
“He’s fit and right where we want him.”
Anamoe is a $2.40 favourite with TopSport and will be ridden by James McDonald.
