Our three best tips for the 2024 Valero Texas Open
April 4, 2024

For the second straight week the PGA Tour is in the state of Texas. After Stephan Jaeger of Munich, Germany won the Houston Open a week ago, it is time for the 2024 Valero Texas Open in San Antonio. Here are the three golfers we like this week the most. Remember, this the last PGA Tour event before the first major of the season.
Corey Conners
The Canadian from Listowel, Ontario has won two of the last four Valero Texas Opens. He was first victorious in 2019 when he shot a four-round score of -20 to beat American Charley Hoffman of San Diego, California by two strokes. Conners then won his second Valero Texas Open in 2023 when he defeated Sam Stevens of Fort Worth, Texas by a stroke after shooting a four round score of -15. Conners’s win was extra impressive when you consider the fact he did not have the hometown crowd on his side. It should be noted that Conners’s two wins in San Antonio are his only two wins on the PGA Tour.

Jordan Spieth
The native of Dallas, Texas will also get plenty of fan support starting Thursday. Spieth is a three-time major champion (2015 Masters, 2015 United States Open and 2017 British Open), and is also a past champion in San Antonio, as he was victorious in 2021, when he beat Hoffman by two strokes from shooting a four round score of -18. This was Spieth’s second title in the Lone Star State. In 2016, he won the Dean & DeLuca Invitational by shooting -17 and beating Harris English of Valdosta, Georgia by three strokes at Colonial.

Charley Hoffman
A dark horse from a betting perspective, Hoffman shouldn’t be. In addition to his two second place positions at the Valero Texas Open in the past, Hoffman finished in second place at the 2024 Phoenix Open on Super Bowl weekend.
