Stephan Jaeger of Munich, Germany won a very competitive 2024 Texas Children’s Houston Open on Sunday. Jaeger posted a winning score of -12, and in the process won his first career PGA tournament. A total of a dozen golfers were within three strokes of Jaeger to finish the event. However, the 34-year-old, who we predicted to win the Wyndham Championship a year ago, got the win without needing a playoff.

Jaeger had scores in the 60s in every round. He had a first round score of one-under-par 69, a second round and third round score of four-under-par 66, and a fourth round score of three-under-par 67. On the back nine on Sunday, Jaeger got the win without a birdie or bogey. He posted a score of par on all nine holes.

There was a five-way tie for second place at -11. There you could find Americans Scottie Scheffler, Taylor Moore and Tony Finau, Belgium’s Thomas Detry, and Argentina’s Alejandro Tosti. Scheffler, the 2022 Masters champion, and Finau, were among our three best bets for the 2024 Texas Children’s Houston Open before the tournament began.

There was a four-way tie for seventh place at -10. There you could find Englishmen David Skinns and Aaron Rai, along with Americans Billy Horschel and Max Greyserman. Meanwhile, three golfers were tied for 11th place at -9. Those three strokes off the lead were Americans Akshay Bhatia and Nick Dunlap, and Sweden’s Alex Noren.

Jaeger is the first German golfer to win on the PGA Tour since 2015. Nine years ago Alex Cejka of Munich won the 2015 Puerto Rico Open.
