Our three best tips for the 2024 Genesis Open
February 15, 2024

Coming off a marvelous Waste Management Phoenix Open, where you could make the argument that Nick Taylor’s dramatic playoff win over Charley Hoffman was more exciting than the first half of the 2024 Super Bowl, it is time for the PGA Tour to return to the state of California. Here are our three best bets for the 2024 Genesis Open.
Max Homa
The world number eight from Burbank, California has had outstanding success at Riviera in the past. He won the title in 2021 in very windy conditions, and then was second to Jon Rahm of Spain in 2023. Homa will not have to battle Rahm as the two-time major winner has joined the LIV Tour. Yes, I am aware that Homa missed the cut at the Phoenix Open, but he has performed much better in California, where he has won four times.

Adam Scott
Australia’s own is the only multi-champion of the Genesis Open in the field. The native of Adelaide first won at Riviera in 2005. There, Scott, the 2013 Masters champion, beat American Chad Campbell of Andrews, Texas in a playoff, after shooting a four round score of -9. Scott then won the Genesis Invitational again in 2020. There he beat Americans Scott Brown and Matt Kuchar and South Korea’s Sung-hoon Kang by two strokes after shooting a four-round score of -11.

Sahith Theegala
Theegala of Orange, California had a strong showing at the Phoenix Open. He was in contention to take the title for most of the weekend before faltering late and finishing in fifth place. The world number 20 has had two top-five finishes in 2024 already. In addition to his fifth place in Phoenix, Theegala finished in second place at the Sentry.
