There is a different format in the golf world this week, as the world’s best compete in a head-to-head format rather than playing 72 holes. Here are the three golfers we like in the 2023 World Match Play Golf Championship from Austin, Texas.
Scottie Scheffler
The 2022 World Matchplay Golf championship winner was sensational in Austin a year ago. He won Group 5 by beating England’s Ian Poulter and Matt Fitzpatrick (2022 United States Open champion), and then eliminated Billy Horschel of the United States 2&1 in the round of 16, Seamus Power of Ireland 3&2 in the quarterfinals, 2016 United States Open champion and 2020 Masters champion Dustin Johnson of the United States 3&1 in the semifinals, and then Kevin Kisner of the United States 4&3 in the final. If there is one thing we know is that Scheffler is great with momentum. He won his last tournament–the 2023 Players Championship.
