Golden State Warriors face turmoil to begin 2022-23 NBA season
October 18, 2022

You would think by the fact that the Golden State Warriors were the defending champions in the NBA, that everything would be spectacular in San Francisco. At the ESPYs in the summer, the Warriors in a jovial mood as they dominated the multi-sport annual award show, including receiving the award for best team.
But even though sports teams may celebrate and be in great moods when they win, there is also a chance they could face adversity even when they experience a high degree of frequency in winning. On October 7, TMZ Sports reported an altercation between two Warriors teammates–forward Draymond Green of Saginaw, Michigan, and shooting guard Jordan Poole of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Green, who is 32 years old, was seen pounding Poole, who is 23 years old, during team practice.

What everyone wants to know at this time is what set Green off in delivering his rage? What did Poole do or say to him that would cause so much tension? For now we do not know the answer. We do know that Green has apologized, and that over the last week, Poole became significantly richer. On Saturday, according to Noah Rubin of NBC Sports, Poole signed a four-year contract extension which will see him earn $140 million. Of the $140 million, $123 million is guaranteed.
Last year there was a lack of chemistry with the Los Angeles Lakers. As a result, they stunningly missed the postseason. Now could we see another California team in the NBA not have the positive connection required to win a championship? The 2022-23 Warriors have not got off to a good start.
