Utah Jazz set NBA record for most three-pointers in the first half

The Utah Jazz set the NBA record for most three-pointers in the first half. In a 137-91 win over the Orlando Magic on Saturday, the Jazz had 18 first-half three-pointers.
Of the Jazz’s 18 three-pointers, Donovan Mitchell of Elmsford, New York led the team with six three-pointers. Meanwhile, Australia’s own Joe Ingles of Happy Valley had four three-pointers, Jordan Clarkson of Tampa, Florida had three three-pointers from beyond the arc, Georges Niang of Lawrence, Massachusetts, and Bojan Bogdanovic of Croatia each had two three-pointers each, and Miye Oni of Los Angeles, California had one three-pointer. Mitchell set the record with a 30-foot three-pointer with 35.1 seconds left which put the Jazz up 78-38 at the time.
The Jazz finished the game with 26 three-pointers. Mitchell led the team with six, with all coming in the first half. The Milwaukee Bucks hold the NBA record for most three-pointers in a game. Earlier this season, the Bucks set the record with 29 three-pointers in a 144-97 win over the Miami Heat on December 29, 2020.

The Golden State Warriors held the old record of most three-pointers in the first half according to Colin Ward-Henninger of CBS Sports. On October 29, 2018, the Warriors had 17 first-half three-pointers in a 149-124 win over the Chicago Bulls. In this same game, Klay Thompson of the Warriors set the NBA record for most three-pointers in a game with 14, as he scored 52 points. Interestingly, Thompson also holds the playoff record for most three-pointers in a game. He had 11 in a 108-101 Warriors win over the Oklahoma City Thunder in game six of the Western Conference Finals on May 28, 2016.
The Jazz meanwhile continue to fly in the NBA’s Western Conference. They lead the league with a record of 38 wins and 11 losses. They have a three and a half-game lead on the second place Phoenix Suns.
The Magic meanwhile blew an 18-point lead against the Denver Nuggets on Sunday. At the half, Orlando was leading Denver 65-48, but lost 119-109.
