Jon Rahm sizzles at 2023 American Express

For the second time in the 2023 calendar year, Spain’s Jon Rahm of Barrika, Spain is victorious. Earlier this month he won the 2023 Tournament of Champions, and now this past weekend Rahm won The American Express in La Quinta, California, a tournament in California’s Palm Springs region, we successfully predicted he would contend in.
Rahm has posted identical four round scores of -27 in Maui and La Quinta. On Sunday, he beat four Americans who were in contention to take the title. Davis Thompson of Auburn, Alabama was one stroke back at -26. He was followed by reigning Olympic gold medalist Xander Schauffele of San Diego, California (-25), Chris Kirk of Knoxville, Tennessee (-25), and Taylor Montgomery of Henderson, Nevada (-24).

In the four holes of golf on the weekend, Rahm shot scores of eight-under-par 64 in rounds one and two, a seven-under-par 65 in round three, and four-under-par 63 in round four. In the third round, Rahm posted a score of three on the par-five fifth hole for his only eagle in the tournament.
Rahm also set PGA Tour history after the third round. In his 10 rounds of golf prior to the fourth round of The American Express, he had shot -62. That is the best score ever for 10 consecutive rounds in the history of the PGA Tour. Davis Love III of Charlotte, North Carolina was -61 in 2001 according to ESPN. Rahm was at -12 over the final three rounds of the 2022 CJ Cup in South Carolina, -27 at the 2023 Tournament of Champions, and -23 over the first three rounds of the 2023 American Express.
