Jon Rahm and Xander Schauffele tied for the lead in Olympic golf

There is a two-way tie for the lead in men’s individual stroke play after three rounds of the 2024 Olympic golf tournament. At -14 is Spain’s Jon Rahm and American Xander Schauffele,
Rahm and Schauffele are both multiple major champions. Rahm won the 2021 United States Open and 2023 Masters, and Schauffele won the 2024 PGA Championship and 2024 British Open.
In round three, Schauffele, the round two leader at -11, made an eagle on the par five 14th hole. He also birdied the fourth and 12th holes, and bogeyed the second hole for a third round score of three-under-par 68.
Rahm, meanwhile, shot a third round score of 66 for the second consecutive day. On Saturday, he had seven birdies and one bogey. Rahm birdied the third, fourth, seventh, ninth, 13th. 14th, and 17th holes. and bogeyed the eighth and 15th holes for a third round score of five-under-par 66.
Rahm’s first round score contained two eagles on the third and 14th holes along with four birdies, two bogeys and one double bogey. He had birdies on the ninth, 12th, 13th and 17th holes, bogeys on the seventh and eighth holes, and a double bogey on the 16th hole. In round two, Rahm had six birdies and one bogey. He birdied the second, third, fourth, 14th, 15th, and 16th holes, and bogeyed the eighth hole.
Three more golfers are in contention. Tommy Fleetwood of Great Britain is one stroke back of Rahm and Schauffele at -13. Japan’s Hideki Matsuyama and Denmark’s Nicolai Hjogaard are tied for fourth place at -11. Matsuyama is a major champion too, having won the 2021 Masters.
