The top two seeds of the 2026 gentlemen’s singles tournament will face each other in the 2026 Wimbledon final. It should be a very interesting battle between the world number one Jannik Sinner of Innichen, Italy, and world number three Alexander Zverev of Hamburg, Germany.

It should be noted that Zverev is ranked third in the world, even though he is seeded second at Wimbledon. That is because Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz is not at Wimbledon this year because of a wrist injury.

In Friday’s semifinals, there was speculation that Sinner would be impacted by the London heat. However, he was not as Sinner’s youthful legs turned out to be a benefit. The 24-year-old Sinner easily beat the 39-year-old Novak Djokovic of Belgrade, Serbia, in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4.

Djokovic seemed to be fatigued from his five-set quarterfinal win on Tuesday, where he beat Canada’s Felix Auger-Aliassime, 7-6, 3-6, 6-3, 6-7, 7-6. It was a disappointing quarterfinal loss for Auger-Aliassime, the number three seed. On Friday, Auger-Aliassime fired his longtime coach Frederic Fontang.

In Sinner’s win over Djokovic, Sinner had the strong statistical advantage. When it came to the serve, Sinner had 16 aces and zero double faults. Djokovic had eight aces and three double faults. Sinner also broke Djokovic three times, and was not broken himself. When it came to winning percentage percentage on second serve, Sinner was at 62%, and Djokovic was at 41%.

It was also smooth sailing for Zverev, who easily beat the British wildcard Arthur Fery, 7-6, 6-2, 6-4. The first set was rather close in terms of games, but the tiebreak was a blowout as Zverev won all seven points. A key statistic was winning percentage on second serve points. Zverev was at 89% and Fery was at 48%. Zverev also broke Fery four times in eight opportunities.

Zverev will be looking for his second major title after winning the 2026 French Open. Sinner has won four grand slam singles titles (2024 and 2025 Australian Open, 2024 United States Open and 2025 Wimbledon). Sinner has won 10 of 14 meetings head-to-head including all four meetings this year (semifinals at Indian Wells, Miami and Monte Carlo and the final at Madrid).
