For the first time in 2026, a PGA Tour event needed a Monday finish to decide the champion. The winner at the 2026 Travelers Championship was Viktor Hovland of Oslo, Norway. The Monday finish was required because of inclement weather on Sunday.

Hovland defeated world number one Scottie Scheffler of Ridgewood, New Jersey in a playoff. Hovland and Scheffler both posted a score of -21 after 72 holes. Then in a playoff at the TPC River Highlands in Hartford, Connecticut, Hovland made a seven-foot birdie putt, while Scheffler missed a four-foot par putt.

In the first round on Thursday, Hovland had a first round score of five-under-par 65, a second round score of nine-under-par 61, a third round score of six-under-par 64, and a fourth round score of one-under-par 69.

Hovland had one eagle in the tournament. It came in the second round on Friday, when he posted a score of three on the par-five 13th hole. Hovland had a 303 yard tee shot, 214 yard approach shot, and a putt of 26 feet and six inches.

This was the fourth time this year Scheffler finished in second place. He was the runner-up to Rory McIlroy at the Masters, runner-up to Matt Fitzpatrick at the RBC Heritage, and runner-up to Cameron Young at the Cadillac Championship.

There were four more golfers in contention this weekend at the Travelers. American Collin Morikawa was alone in third place at -20, Fitzpatrick was in fourth place at -19, and Americans Wyndham Clark and Akshay Bhatia were tied for fifth place at -18.

Hovland is the second Norwegian golfer to win on the PGA Tour this year. Kristoffer Reitan won the Truist Championship in May. In Hovland’s career, he has now won eight PGA Tour events.
