Belmont Selections & Staking Plan: Wednesday 28th July

Belmont not as underwater as expected for today’s midweek meeting with a soft 7 track upgraded from a heavy 8 yesterday despite the rain received overnight. Expecting the inside pad to be of no disadvantage, particularly through the first half of the card.

Race 1 – 12:55PM GLENROY CHAFF MAIDEN (2100 METRES)

7. She Who Dares – 2. Freedomofthepress – 6. Kardashian Klass

Race 2 – 1:30PM TABTOUCH-BETTER YOUR BET PLATE (1200 METRES)

9. Treasured Star – 1. Wuhan Warrior – 8. Pray Again – 2. Stay Safe

Race 3 – 2:05PM FREE ENTRY TO BELMONT PARK PLATE (1200 METRES)

2. Tunk – 12. Real Danger – 9. Trix Of The Trade – 1. Via Monte

Race 4 – 2:40PM AMELIA PARK LODGE HANDICAP (1650 METRES)

1. Yangtze Rapids – 2. Dad’s Bigheaded – 5. Tumivet – 3. Sunsphere

Yangtze Rapids

Happy to make Yangtze Rapids my best of the day today. His over east form was super prior to his WA debut at Northam but was always going to be a big task from barrier 14 of 14 and lugging the topweight of 60.5kgs on a very wet, undulating track, a task he handled with aplomb. He was super impressive winning that day, and am expecting Azzopardi to idle across from the gate to find a spot in the breeze or somewhere close to it outside of Tumivet, where he has shown in the past he is just as durable a commodity sitting on-speed. Purely think he is the best horse in this race, stepping up to a distance that won’t bother him, and think he just looks very hard to beat.

3 Units WIN

Race 5 – 3:15PM CROWN TOWERS HANDICAP (1400 METRES)

9. Marlini – 4. Trade War – 1. Brave Call – 5. She’s A Sweet Deel

Marlini

Bit of an outlandish spec here, but not one without merit, I thought her last run was huge! Went around in that CL1 at Northam won by Yangtze Rapids, sat up and absorbed what was a very hot tempo, and was the only on-speed horse still there in the finish in a race dominated by those that settled back in the field. I think there’s a great opportunity here for Bennett on the minimum in a race devoid of any real genuine leaders to roll her to the top, and from there in a race where many of these are unproven as to how good they really are (lots of maiden and CL1 winners), the rank outsider can run a very cheeky race. 1×3.

0.25 Units WIN/0.75 Units PLACE

Race 6 – 3:50PM PERTH RACING CLUB MEMBERSHIP HANDICAP (1000 METRES)
