Washington Commanders: Predicted Finish, Key Signings & Fantasy Stars
September 9, 2022

In the 32nd of a 32-part series, we will feature all National Football League teams with a prediction of where each team will finish within their division, key off-season acquisitions and their top fantasy stars. Today we will look at the Washington Commanders.
Key Off Season Acquisitions
The most significant acquisition in the offseason by the Commanders came at quarterback. On March 9, Washington acquired Carson Wentz of Raleigh, North Carolina from the Indianapolis Colts. Last season Wentz completed 322 passes in 516 attempts for 3563 yards, 27 touchdowns and seven interceptions. He also had 57 rushes for 215 yards and one other major score.
On the offensive line, the Commanders also signed guard Andrew Norwell of Cincinnati, Ohio to a two-year contract and guard Trai Turner of New Orleans, Louisiana to a one-year contract. Norwell played last year with the Jacksonville Jaguars and Turner played last year with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The Commanders also plan to start their first round pick, Jahan Dotson, a wide receiver from Penn State. The native of Newark, New Jersey was the 16th overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.

Fantasy Star
The top Washington Commander in fantasy football is running back Antonio Gibson of Stockbridge, Georgia. Ranked 10th among running backs, Gibson had 258 rushes for 1037 yards and seven touchdowns, along with 42 catches for 294 yards and three touchdowns in 2021.
Projected Finish
A third place finish in the NFC East is realistic for the Washington Commanders. They could battle the Philadelphia Eagles for second place in the division, but only if Wentz shows better consistency. Remember, he led the NFL in interceptions with 15 while with the Eagles in 2020.
