WALLER HAS THE CLASS DONCASTER HORSE
April 5, 2024

CHRIS Waller has queried the form of Doncaster Mile favourite Another Will as he nominated Militarize as his best chance of landing a record-equalling seventh Doncaster Mile.
Waller said Another Wil was running in a Group 1 race for the first time against a number of horses who had performed well at that level and that was always a test.
Waller has five runners in the race he dominated for nine years between 2008 and 2016 when he won the race six times.
“Militarize is the class horse. He’s won three G1 races but he has to give a bit of weight to horses such as Celestial Legend,” Waller said.

“He has a good draw, he has Zac Purton on and he doesn’t know how to run a bad race. He’s consistent, he tries his best and he can handle a bog,” Waller said of the $9 chance with PlayUp.
Waller said his in-form mare Zougotcha was racing well but she had to overcome a wide draw of barrier 19.
Waller talked up the chances of $19 chance Kovalica.
“It’s a good draw for him. He can settle mid-field, find cover and power home. He’s ready for a mile. He’s a good horse who needs a touch of luck.”
He said Democracy Manifest had hit form at the right time and his barrier draw of 11 would suit his style of racing as he liked to settle mid-field and swoop home.
Waller said Lindermann had drawn poorly as he did in the same race last year when he failed but he was going terrifically well.
Waller said his $3 favourite in the Australian Derby, Riff Rocket was ready to take out another Derby.
“He’s worked well. He’s rock hard fit and he’s won over the distance. He powered home to win the Rosehill Guineas.”
He said he was very happy with his stablemate Cap Ferrat who finished third behind Riff Rocket in the Rosehill Guineas.
“Ryan Moore who rode him that day said the best is yet to come. He powered home and he worked well since,” Waller said.
