Vince Carter, Chauncy Billups and Jerry West in Basketball Hall of Fame

According to Thomas Tittley of The Score on Wednesday, three people will be inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, Massachusetts in 2024. They are guard Chauncey Billups of Denver, Colorado, shooting guard Vince Carter of Daytona Beach, Florida and Jerry West of Chelyan, West Virginia.
Billups played 17 seasons in the NBA with the Boston Celtics, Toronto Raptors, Denver Nuggets, Minnesota Timberwolves, Detroit Pistons, New York Knicks and Los Angeles Clippers. He averaged 15.2 points per game, 5.4 assists per game, 2.9 rebounds per game, and one steal per game. Billups also had a field goal percentage of .415, three-point percentage of .387, and a free throw percentage of .894. Currently the Portland Trail Blazers head coach, Billups was an All-Star for five straight seasons from 2006 to 2010. He represented the Pistons from 2006 to 2008, and the Nuggets in 2009 and 2010. Also with the Pistons, Billups won the 2004 NBA Finals, and was the most valuable player in the 2004 NBA Finals. In five games, Billups averaged 21 points per game as the Pistons beat the Los Angeles Lakers.
Carter played 22 NBA seasons from 1998 to 2020 with the Toronto Raptors, New Jersey Nets, Dallas Mavericks, Memphis Grizzlies, Atlanta Hawks, Orlando Magic, Sacramento Kings, and Phoenix Suns. He averaged 16.7 points per game, 4.3 rebounds per game, 3.1 assists per game, one steal per game, and had a field goal percentage of .435, three-point percentage of .371, and a free throw percentage of .798. Carter was the 1999 NBA Rookie of the Year with the Raptors (averaged 18.3 points per game), and was an All-Star eight straight years from 2000 to 2007.
West was the general manager for the Los Angeles Lakers and Memphis Grizzlies from 1982 to 2007. He won the NBA Finals with the Lakers in 1985, 1987, 1988, and 2000. West will also be recognized for his consulting work with the Golden State Warriors and Los Angeles Clippers.
