The spring contenders continued to front up at the Rosehill trials this week. Our analyst has black booked a Baker runner that recorded a massive 9L win as part of a quartet of runners that look ready to win 1st up.

Perfumist

No one that tuned in to the Rosehill trials this week left without taking a note of Perfumist’s massive 9.1L victory in the opener. Ash Morgan took the 4yo mare straight to the front before powering away the final 250m under minimal pressure. She did take on a field made up mostly of stayers that will be peaking much later in the spring but the time was still slick.

She looks to be in for a big prep bringing the proven Baker profile having broken through in the country last prep before working her way through the grades recording 3 consecutive wins including an impressive 2.2L win at Rosehill in Saturday grade before a 3L 5th in the Listed Kiwi in NZ. 



General Salute

I liked the way the Ryan & Alexiou 5yo hit the line to finish 1.4L 2nd in his trial behind Spring Lee. He is going to have a residual fitness edge against his rivals wherever he lands 1st-up having being freshened up from a 3rd in G3 company over the Brisbane Winter Carnival. 


Polyglot

The Godolphin 5yo looks ready to win 1st up for new trainer Michael Freedman. He settled behind the leader with J Mac on board and was strung up on heels until the final 200m where he exploded along the rails to score a 0.2L win. He has a 2: 1-1-0 1st up record and looks to have come back in improved order.


Theblade

The Hawkes 4yo returned with a stylish 3.6L victory in his 900m trial. The overall time was the 2nd quickest of the morning and the final 600m was the quickest. He was a dominant 5.6L maiden winner at Kensington on debut before being slightly disappointing in 2 subsequent Saturday starts last prep. He looks loaded with ability and I’m keen to be with if he finds a suitable race to kick off his spring campaign.
