Trial Review: Horses That Caught The Eye At The Trials This Week 5/4
April 6, 2026
Warwick Farm and Rosehill played host to Sydney trials last week. We’ve black booked 4 runners headlined by a mare with $10 million prize money that looks in great order for a G1 All Aged assignment.Â
Fangirl
The outstanding mare’s 4.2L 5th in her Warwick Farm trial won’t jump off the page in the form guide but I thought it showed she is in great order for the G1 All Aged on Day 3 of The Championships. She settled towards the rear and was under a strong double grip from J Mac the whole way up the straight but absolutely trucked through the line over the final 100m. She’s being set up for a very different prep resuming in the All Aged before a Brisbane Winter Carnival campaign. She will line up against the likes of Jimmysstar, Tentyris and Giga Kick all with their own convictions coming to the end of their preps.Â

Crepe Myrtle
The Godolphin mare was fantastic going 4: 2-2-0 in her first prep for Joe Pride and looks to have returned in great order after her 0.2L Warwick Farm trial win. She settled behind the speed before sticking to the inside going well all the way to the line with her ears pricked recording slick time. I can see her banking early wins in her home state before pressing on to Brisbane.
Che Ole
The Ryan & Alexiou 3yo filly looks ready to break through in 3yo filly company after her 2nd consecutive eye-catching trial. She settled midfield in a strung out field and was still 7-8L off at the 300m before rocketing home to claim a 0.4L victory.
Brave One
The Hawkes sprinter settled 3rd in in his 900m Rosehill trial and did his best work late to finish 0.3L 2nd. That was his 1st trial back so you’d expect another forward showing at the trials before a 1st up tilt.Â
