The third week of the 2021 NFL regular season provided plenty of drama, spectacular playmaking, and record-breaking performances. Here are the top five headlines.
5) New York Jets getting off to awful starts.
How bad have the Jets been in the first half of their first three games in 2021? The answer is awful. New York has been outscored 46-3. However it is not the first time in franchise history, they only had a total of three points in the first half in their first three games. They also recorded the total in 1973.
4) DeSean Jackson ties the NFL record for most receiving touchdowns of 75 yards or more.
In the Los Angeles Rams’ 34-24 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday, DeSean Jackson made NFL history. When Jackson was on the receiving end of a 75 yard TD pass from Matt Stafford, he had his ninth touchdown pass of his career of 75 yards or more. That ties Jackson with Lance Alworth for the most touchdown catches of 75 yards or more ever.

3) Derek Carr off to a great start to 2020 with the Raiders.
Derek Carr has got off to a sensational start after three games this season with the Las Vegas Raiders. Carr has 1203 yards passing. In NFL history, there have only been three quarterbacks with more yards over his team’s first three games to start the season. Tom Brady had 1327 yards with the New England Patriots in 2011. Ryan Fitzpatrick had 1230 yards with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2018. Kurt Warner had 1221 yards with the St. Louis Rams in 2000. On Sunday, Carr had 386 yards passing in a 31-28 Raiders overtime win over the Miami Dolphins.
2) Jamal Agnew ties NFL record for longest TD ever.
In the Jaguars’ 31-19 loss to the Arizona Cardinals, the biggest play of the game came at the end of the first half. That is when Cardinals’ kicker Matt Prater attempted a field goal of 68 yards, but missed. Jaguars’ kick returner Jamal Agnew then delivered magic of his own. Agnew ran the ball 109 yards back for a touchdown, tying the NFL record for the longest touchdown ever. Antonio Cromartie had a 109-yard unsuccessful field goal return for a touchdown for the San Diego Chargers in a 35-17 win over the Minnesota Vikings on November 4, 2007. Then on October 27, 2013, Cordarelle Patterson of the Minnesota Vikings had a 109-yard kickoff return for a touchdown in a 44-31 Vikings loss to the Green Bay Packers.
1) Justin Tucker successfully kicks longest field goal in NFL history.
It was also a memorable day for Ravens kicker Justin Tucker. The Houston native made a 66-yard game-winning field goal on Sunday, in the Ravens’ 19-17 win over the Detroit Lions. It was the longest field goal in NFL history. The previous record was set by Matt Prater, who made a 64-yard field goal attempt for the Denver Broncos in their 51-28 win over the Tennessee Titans on December 8, 2013.
