The eighth week of the 2025 National Football League regular season is now finished. Here are the top five headlines.
5) Buccaneers win with great defense.
With all of the injury issues the Buccaneers have had  to their wide receiver group, their defense was sensational on Sunday. They limited the New Orleans Saints to three points in a dominant 23-3 victory. The Buccaneers defense had five sacks and two interceptions. As a result, Tampa Bay improved to a record of six wins and two losses and lead the NFC South.
4) Eagles rebound to beat the Giants.
Earlier this month the Philadelphia Eagles lost to the New York Giants 34-17 when Philadelphia was a 7.5 point favourite. On Sunday, the Eagles restored order. Saquon Barkley and Tank Bigsby combined for 254 rushing yards in a 38-20 Eagles win over the New York Giants. Philadelphia leads the NFC East at six wind and two losses.
3) Colts are the best team in the NFL
Indianapolis is the best team in the NFL. On Sunday, the Colts won their fourth straight game after beating the Tennessee titans 38-14. During the winning streak, the Colts scored 147 points.
2) James Cook shines for the Bills.
James Cook had 216 rushing yards on Sunday in a 40-9 Bills win over the Carolina Panthers. What we saw from Cook was magnificent. It was the most number of rushing yards by a Buffalo Bill in a single game since OJ Simpson had 273 rushing yards in a 27-14 Bills loss to the Detroit Lions on American Thanksgiving, 1976.
1) Jets win their first game of the year.
New York went into their game on Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals as the only team in the NFL that had not won a game this season. Things did not look good for the Jets as they trailed the Bengals 31-16 after three quarters. Then in the fourth quarter, New York dominated Cincinnati as they outscored Cincinnati 23-7 en route to a 39-38 win. The Jets star was running back Breece Hall, who had 133 yards rushing and two touchdowns.
