Top five headlines from Week 15 of 2024 NFL season

The 15th week of the 2024 National Football League regular season is now finished. Here are the top five headlines.

5) Dolphins release Odell Beckham Jr. and Chiefs release Clyde Edwards Helaire.

Odell Beckham Jr.’s time in Miami was short. After signing a one-year deal worth $8.25 million on May 3, Beckham Jr., the three-time Pro Bowler and former offensive rookie of the year, was released on Friday by the Dolphins. This season, Beckham Jr. only had nine catches for 55 receiving yards. Meanwhile, the Kansas City Chiefs released running back Clyde Edwards Helaire. The native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana has had injuries in his career to his hip and ankle. This season, Edwards-Helaire has not seen any action.

4) Vikings, Steelers and Texans clinch playoff spots.

Three more teams are in the postseason. They are Minnesota, Pittsburgh and Houston. Minnesota is in after Green Bay beat Seattle 30-13. Houston is in and clinched the AFC South after beating the Miami Dolphins 20-12 and Denver beating Indianapolis 31-13. The wins by the Texans and Broncos also clinched a playoff spot for the Steelers.

3) Chiefs win with great defense.

We all know what a high potent offense the Chiefs have. However on Sunday, the Chiefs won with great defense. They improved to a NFL best 13-1 thanks to five sacks, four interceptions, two fumble recoveries, a fourth down stop and two three and outs in a 21-7 Chiefs win over the Cleveland Browns.

2) Bills win the highest scoring game of the year.

The Buffalo Bills defeated the Detroit Lions 48-42 in the highest scoring game of the year. The 90 points were four points than the 86 points the Bills and Los Angeles Rams had last week in a 44-42 Rams win. On Sunday, Bills quarterback Josh Allen of Firebaugh, California had 362 passing yards as Buffalo improved to 11-3.

1) Eagles win franchise record 10 straight.

Philadelphia improved to 12-2 after a 27-13 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers. With the win, the Eagles have won a franchise-record 10 straight games. Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts of Houston, Texas had 290 passing yards. Prior to Sunday, the Eagles had nine game winning streaks in 1960, 2003 and 2017.
