Top five groups for 2025 Masters

The first major of the year is set to start Thursday from Augusta, Georgia. Here are the top five groups for the first two rounds.
5) Rory McIlroy/Ludvig Aberg/Akshay Bhatia
McIlroy of Holywood, Northern Ireland is the only major champion in the group as he won the 2011 United States Open, the 2012 and 2014 PGA Championship, and 2014 British Open. Aberg is fifth in the word, while Bhatia is 24th in the world, and finished third at the Players Championship last month behind McIroy and J.J. Spaun.
4) Jon Rahm/Wyndham Clark/Tommy Fleetwood
There are two major champions in this group. Rahm of Barrika, Spain won the 2021 United States Open and 2023 Masters. Clark of Denver, Colorado won the 2023 United States Open. Fleetwood is 12th in the world, and has won seven times on the European Tour.
3) Adam Scott/Viktor Hovland/Xander Schauffele
This group contains two major champions who have won a combined three titles. Scott of Adelaide, Australia won the 2013 Masters, and Schauffele of San Diego, California won the 2024 PGA Championship and 2024 British Open. Hovland is not a major champion, but won the 2023 Tour Championship and is ninth in the world.
2) Phil Mickelson/Jason Day/Keegan Bradley
This trio has won a combined eight majors, with Phil Mickelson of San Diego, California winning six times. Mickelson’s six majors came at the 2004, 2006, and 2010 Masters, the 2025 and 2021 PGA Championship and 2013 British Open. Day of Beaudesert, Australia won the 2015 PGA Championship and Bradley of Woodstock, Vermont won the 2011 PGA Championship.
1) Hideki Matsuyama/Bryson DeChambeau/Shane Lowry
All three players in this group are major champions too. Matsuyama of Matsuyama, Japan won the 2021 Masters, DeChambeau of Modesto, California won the 2020 and 2024 United States Opens and Lowry of Clara, Ireland won the 2019 British Open.
